A Partnership With Dynamic Drill

Back in April of 2022, I watched a Marching Arts Education Incorporated podcast featuring an interview with Grant Duplechien of Dynamic Drill. The interview centered around a new company offering a service utilizing drones to provide accurate and comprehensive feedback to marching bands using a bird’s eye view. This peaked my interest enough that I checked out their website: dynamic-drill.com and eventually, Grant I connected through social media. Through our interactions, Grant quickly shared he was eager to connect with visual designers as a way to get the word out about his startup. I saw the opportunity for my clients to get help in a very challenging area for many of them as most have little to no staff in addition to the band director while also having limited budgets. A partnership was born.

Longer story short: Any 2022 Doug Bush Visual Design clients and/or referrals will receive a deep discount from Dynamic Drill.

In a nutshell, here is how the Dynamic Drill service works.

  1. The client provides drone produced video of a rehearsal run through to Dynamic Drill as well as pdfs of each drill set (from Pyware or other visual design software).

  2. Dynamic Drill then utilizes a specially designed software to fuse together the video with the pdf images to produce a moving overlay of those 2 elements.

  3. A team of visual tech experts analyze the generated file and provide the analysis to the client band.

  4. The turnaround is quick and can have an impact throughout the season by repeating the process.

In addition to the above, Dynamic Drill can help with the purchase of the drone as well as the training of the drone’s operation.

Here is a short excerpt from a discussion Grant and I had about the partnership and the Dynamic Drill process/service.
